Muramoto Pan Fried Salmon with Coconut Curry

For new posts and updated information please visit my new food website: GetNMahBelly.com

Muramoto - Pan Fried Salmon with Coconut Curry.  I was excited to try this new dish from Restaurant Muramoto since they just recently added more dishes and sushi to their menu.  Since I'm not a stranger to this restaurant, I had high expectation and unfortuantely, Muramoto did not meet the expectation that he usually exceeds.  The salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection though the curry was not as pleasurable.  The coconumt part of teh curry seemed to had been left behind leaving the dish lacking a sweeness to it, where each ingredient worked against each other.  I will still be trying other new dishes in the future though with all the much better selections, I won't be having this dish again.

Takara Active Volcano Roll

For new posts and updated information please visit my new food website: GetNMahBelly.com

Takara - Active Volcano Roll - this multi-ingredient sushi: spicy tuna, crab, spicy mayo, and spicy crunch erupts in your mouth with multiple flavors, texture, and a whole lot of fire.  It tastes exactly like what it looks like, a crazy hot mess with a lot going on.  The spice comes in all level and texture: from the spicy crunchy tempura flakes and spicy tender tuna, to the spicy oozy sauces that drizzles from top to bottom.  The mayo do add a strong tang flavor where the soy sauce is actually needed to add a sweet touch to the roll.  Though the true experience in this roll that stands out the most is the multi-spice texture and flavor.

Muramoto Viper Roll

For new posts and updated information please visit my new food website: GetNMahBelly.com

Muramoto - Viper Roll any one? Hamachi, avocado, eel, scallions, spicy sauce, and eel sauce. The succulent hamachi and avocado top layer just melts in your mouth and leaves you working slowly on a sweet eel combination.  The eel and spicy sauce ties it all together so don't forget to snake your rolls around the plate to get the full flavor.

Muramoto Deadly Catch

Muramoto - deadly catch special roll - tempura crab leg with wasabi sauce and fire red tobiko. Amazingly even in the Midwest, this crab leg is a fresh as it can ever be.  Each roll is a mouth full of sweet flavorful crab complimented by the wasabi mayo giving the roll the bite it needs.

Ichiban Authentic Chinese Restaurant

Ichiban - (new restaurant on Park Street). This dish took me back to my days when I study abroad in China. The beef was soft and tender, the pot was hot and spicy. Very authentic indeed! Not sure if I'll go again though, average price was 16 - 18 for dishes that are just okay. For that price - i'd rather go all out with sushi. Just my opinion, let me know if you like it.

Muramoto Hanger Steak

For new posts and updated information please visit my new food website: GetNMahBelly.com

Muramoto - another tasty dish is this hanger steak. So juicy, tender and flavorful, this dish was definitely thoughtout from beggining to end. The sweet marinade was not too little and not overpowering but was great for the meat and complimented the bed of rice perfectly. I would be fine with eating rice and that sauce - but I'll definitely take the steak ;)

Las Cazuelas Pork Dish

For new posts and updated information please visit my new food website: GetNMahBelly.com

Las Cazuelas - I liked how this dish was presented - not the usual you would see in a Madison restaurant. Aside from the obvious, beans and rice, this dish contains a banana leaf that houses shredded pork. I truly thought this would be authentic and fun to eat, though what I found was that the pork was very bland, the lime sauce used did not fuse well with the meat at all. Unfortunately, this dish was not worth the wait or the $$ I was charged. Not a dish I would recommend though with it's unique presentation you may want to try it for yourself and be the judge.

Bumble Bee Roll

For new posts and updated information please visit my new food website: GetNMahBelly.com

Muramoto - Bumble Bee Roll - This very unique roll has fried salmon skin and cream cheese with the yellow and black fish roe hovering over wasabi mayo and eel sauce. It has an amazing drastic contrast in texture and flavor; from the crispy smoked salmon skin to the smooth sweet cream cheese, and a little sting to the lips at the end of each bite with the wasabi mayo. Each time you reach for the next roll, you still get a surprise sensation with it's unique combination.

Las Cazuelas Shrimp Dish

For new posts and updated information please visit my new food website: GetNMahBelly.com

Las Cazuelas shrimp dish. I chose to have the dish with the "diablo hot sauce," which was what really gave this dish some flavor. In addition, the shrimp swam in a buttery lime pond with other amazing spices that tied the whole dish together. You gotta try it! It's so yummy :)
